Horribly glitchy
JonahFD on 2023-08-12
I was winning a game, then one of the players simply “lost connection” on their turn for 5 seconds, then connected back again. repeated that same move for about an hour, all the other players eventually left, and there was nothing I could do except forfeit the game or continue to wait out the cheater. Worse still, there’s no way to report another player for cheating. Beyond that, there’s no ranking possible over multiple games played or even just place to see your stats, there’s no thimble, which is a crime against humanity, there’s no options for what should happen when a player leaves the game other than the computer takes over and plays very poorly for them (the properties could be auctioned etc) there’s no versions of the game with rule alteration (free parking money collect, no income from jail, houses/hotels can be sold for the same cost as they were purchased for, different starting cash amounts rather than always $1500 - monopoly is a great game, it’s Hasbro’s biggest seller, Hasbro is a multimillion dollar organization that just put out the biggest movie of the summer and is planning to build out an entire extended universe, Monopoly likely included in it, and you can’t get your IOS app to be functional?? It’s pathetic. We don’t all want to play Monopoly Go, we want the actual board game itself and we want it to be functional. If I had confidence it were going to play correctly, I’d easily cough up some cash for it - already did for Risk which, miraculously, does work and even has interesting worth while maps (the other boards for this were identical in all but look - I’ve played monopoly with a board inside the regular board w/ slide squares where the railroads are etc. It’s unacceptable. Fix your app!
Great game but hard to win
bebsv on 2023-08-12
Hello, at fist I was so happy with this game, but on the single mode it’s so hard to win, once the system picks a winner (most of the times is not you) , all the bad cards are yours, and the computer opponent get all the collect money, if you pass the salary block most likely you get to the pay tax block or to pay rent to your opponent. So you ending up being broke trying to race money and it gets almost impossible. I get it, it supposed to be like that, but it’s boring game after game after game , you are on a time wasting race because it’s just obvious the system won’t let you win. I try cheating the system to see if it was random, I choose the switching turns option, picking opponent 1 and 2 , I was opponent 1, once I noticed the system was obviously on opponent 2 side, I decided to sold one cheap property to opponent 2 for almost all his money, with in 10 minutes I was on red numbers again, and opponent 2 had gotten collect money cards, advance to salary block and all kinds of money. At the same time, I was getting all the cards were I have to pay, one after another, tax pay, jail one after another time. I did the same thing again I traded a property for a ridiculously amount of money to opponent 2 and the same thing happened, I did this 4 times , just to see if it was a fear choice from the system. Finally the 4th time cheating the system changed sides and I bankrupt opponent 2. It took me more than 2 hours cheating to be able to win. For that reason I’m not happy with this monopoly game anymore , is doing what all the games that are for sale do. They only let you win when you spend money buying dices, figurines and stuff . We already pay for this game, at least make it more fear .
Fun game, but lots of freezing and cheaters
Thisissuperman on 2023-08-12
This is an amazing game and it’s the only game I play on my iPad. I’ve been playing this game since the pandemic hit. Here are a few fixes that can greatly improve the online game play: 1 - Players Bank Accounts should be hidden. 2 - The online game needs a mandatory time limit. When players are losing they purposely slow the game down. 3 - $1 trades need to be rejected there should be mandatory minimum fixed amounts 4 - Train stations on the orange and red side overcharge. This has been going on since I’ve had this game (they fixed the glitch) 5 - The in-game chats are great but there should be a kick a player out option for those players that are slowing the game down or cheating. Then have their properties auctioned off. 6 - A social feature to play or host a game with friends would be great (Facebook link or phone contacts that have the game) 7 - when the game is frozen it seems like it’s frozen on one specific player. I think it would help to add in another chat button that says “Everyone Please Refresh Your Game it’s Frozen” or a refresh button this will help solve the frozen game issues instead of forcing players to just quit. 8 - The game will freeze every now and then but players have no idea what to do. For me I switch on app manager and go back to the game without quitting. This always fixes the game. like I stated above “REFRESH” chat option to let the player that’s frozen would really help these freezing issues. Or the ability for remaining players to dismiss a frozen. Update August 2023: I’m no longer able to log in.
The game is sorta rigged
RazorUSMC on 2023-08-12
The game is great if you’re playing full of friends… if not, the game seems pretty rigged. After about 25 games or so, here’s what I’ve found: If you’re playing with AI, they’re idiots. First, you can exploit it by buying their property right after they’ve bought it for like $50-$100 more than what they bought it for. Another thing, is the AI seems completely rigged. They skip your properties unless they can afford it and will give them low rolls to keep them from your properties but then give them high rolls or lucky spots to avoid them. (There was a time the AI went around 3 times without landing on any of my properties with hotels but then I landed 4 rolls in a row with their hotels and houses to lose the game). The game also feels at time that things are predetermined. Every friend in a full game agrees that it feels predetermined. Some players are just lucky all game while others are constantly put in jail and others just skate by and touch nothing. It definitely doesn’t feel random and you’ll understand if you play. The positive: It’s really cool to have maps to play on and change things up. Although, you have to pay for them. So just have one friend by maps you want and then only have them start up the games. Overall: Disappointing if you play with any AIs and some games just feel completely non-random. It is a good app to play with friends though and hopefully your friends don’t abuse the dumb AI system.
Devs don’t care
revoltick on 2023-08-12
I love how so many people are telling the devs that the game has a flaw yet they will literally say that they are aware of people giving bad reviews to discourage other players. I also see the flaw in this game, the rolls are patterned, you will go around the board and hit almost nothing besides go to jail, chance and community chest. That’s your first trip around the board After that you will get a couple of properties here and there, meanwhile one of the AI will make a complete set and will have houses (this is the second go around on the board) If you make it to end game it will look like you can’t lose, but yet you some how will. The AI will not land on your property until of course you hit there’s and have to sell your houses or hotels. The second you sell your houses or hotels they will magically land on all of your properties but it’s not going to matter because they still have their hotels and you will hit them all back to back untill you lose. This is not to bring down the game, I LOVE Monopoly, but the algorithm is majorly flawed and needs to be revised.
Not Random AT ALL
Turntaf1638383 on 2023-08-12
The game is super fun when you’re equally landing on AI spots and they land on yours. However, like I have read from multiple reviews: the dice rolls for AI are absolutely not random at all. The game continues to punish you over and over again landing on AI places with high rent and they will land 1 before yours, in the middle, or 1 spot away OVER AND OVER. It’s as soon as you have mortgaged everything and are down to $8 that they finally start landing on your properties and it’s all late. It also has a huge problem with choosing an AI winner really early on. Almost every single game one AI player will get up to 5-8k in cash and continuously ONLY pull community chest and chests that give them more money, land on free parking, and land on GO for double cash (if you play with that setting). The game is so highly annoying because it happens so frequently. Please fix this, I really like playing monopoly but I don’t want to play when the winner of the game is generated before I’ve even rolled once.
Rigged
KindaDecent on 2023-08-12
Although I am annoyed that I just wasted an hour and a half of a game that I was definitely going to win and eventually quit after having to sell my hotels on the dark blues and the yellows while the ai had about 3 unmortgaged properties, I will be as unbiased as possible in this review. Every time the ai was close to my properties it would get the chance or community chest right in between all of my hotels. They went around the board about 5 times and would happen to land right between my properties every time or get sent to jail and stay in there while I land on all of their properties. I thought it was impossible for me to lose ( and it pretty much should have been) but the ai on hard difficulty does not make the player smarter like I had hoped, it just makes it so it rolls the perfect dice every time to avoid your properties. Like many other reviews have said, this definitely favors the ai with the dice rolls. I wish there was a way to put 0 stars.
Needs protection from nutcases

I’ve been playing the game for about a month now. I really enjoyed the single player version against the bots until I figured out to win pretty easily if you have a few properties- the bots will make trades against their interests. But the online multiplayer game inevitably ends up with a sore loser who gives all his/her properties to someone else for a dollar, which is effectively cheating. I’d love to see some kind of restraint that prevents extremely lopsided trades. Also, I am unsure what happens if a player quits or loses their internet connection mid-gane. I have quit the game when someone does a lopsided sale or if I have to leave to do something in the real world. I haven’t been able to find an answer to that question, but I am guessing a bot takes over, instead of the properties going to the bank. Overall, the game isn’t too buggy and has been well worth the cost.
Good old monopoly, but the program cheats.
Cap Blew on 2023-08-12
There are at least couple versions of the monopoly game for apple and also a few on android. I have played a version very much like this one, but the android version gives the player a slight edge or balance with minor cheats options, I believe due to the program giving computer bots endless doubles, Bots always landing on free parking, cards that Benefit the Bot players, and bots missing landing on your built up property’s over and over again; all way more often than the laws of averages. While all that is going on; the program sends the player to jail back to back to back, forces landing on any tax space, and always landing on any close card draw space which can be good or bad. This version is not quite as bad, or they toned it down, but some of the Bot cheats are in this game as well. I take it as a challenge to defeat the cheats, but sometimes impossible.
The AI players love this game…
rewallace87 on 2023-08-12
That’s right, the Monopoly AIs would give 6 stars if they could. If you enjoy owning all monopolies but two and having the last remaining AI player skip from “Go” to “Just Visiting” to “Free Parking” and hitting every beneficial “Chance” and “Community Chest” card in between, completely bypassing every hotel you have on the board, and hanging out in jail and you enjoy landing on the least probable AI-owned “Board Walk” with a hotel, only to hit a “Chance” space on the very next turn, which sends you back to “Board Walk,” then this is the game for you. Very little randomness built into the card selection and dice rolls. The game will give every benefit to its AIs. Not a realistic monopoly experience. Random chance is one thing. Programming you game to benefit the fake players seems not smart. Go spend your $4.99 on a gallon of gas and a pack of gum.
