Video playback stutters and 10 sec rewind button needs tuning.

This is an issue I did not face on the old HBO Max app, but face now on Max. In any shows, most recently White Lotus and Succession, transitions between scenes result in the video and audio stuttering. For example, in Succession this would happen when a shot changes from inside the office to birds eye footage of the city— big changes between scenes, not just two cameras switching. It only seems to happen on the iPhone application and is fine on my TV. Furthermore, the 10 sec rewind button is mostly useless. It doesn’t work like Netflix, Prime, Youtube, or Hulu. Clicking it multiple times registers as a single 10 second skip back. On Max, I have to wait for the video to render, then click the button again in order to rewind 20 seconds, while on every single other service I can spam click and actually see the video render instantly, AND see a “-10”, “-20”, “-30”, etc with every spam click to know exactly how far back i’m rewinding. Fix this and I change my review because the content is actually good on this platform but the mobile app lacks in performance.
Glitchy New App!
Losing weight is easy now! on 2023-08-12
The app has been so glitchy over the past few months and now I can’t even use it! I keep having weird audio issues. First it started with every show I watched starting off in maybe Portuguese or Spanish for several minutes, then switching over mid-sentence back to English. This also happened to several friends. Now no one in my family including myself can use their Max apps while casting to the TV because it insists on playing the audio description for blind people no matter what we do, and it won’t even let us use English subtitles. Wonderful feature for those that need it, but incredibly annoying for those that don’t. We’ve tried restarting the app and our phones, casting and disconnecting and casting again, switching over to Spanish then back to English in an attempt to lose the bug, nothing works. Half the time we can’t even get the audio options to open at all on the app. Just horrible and I never had any problems before!
Another One Bites the Dust
Max has me Feeling ‘Blue’ on 2023-08-12
The parasitic CEO conglomerates of all these stream wars have just been ruining their platforms as time goes on (*cough* not to mention how they treat the actual industry talent the hungry hungry hippos siphon their riches from *cough*). I felt blue as I watched what used to be a decent canon of the HBO & Cinemax (HBO Max) catalogues over the years then into a messy, glitchy, and overpriced mess of predominately Warner Discovery reality content curation… The purple days were fairly solid, but poor Max here feels like a downgrade & if I had not been grandfathered in on the old 6 month contract renewal before the switch occurred I would of cancelled my subscription for sure.
Good but glitchy

This app takes longer to load than all the others, but at least it loads on the first try (unlike hbo now). But the selection on offer is very limited. If it weren’t for FRIENDS & The Nanny, I wouldn’t still have it. Currently, the “Continue Watching” section has stopped updating my stopping point & always reverts back to the same place in the same episodes. So I have to open the episode list & find where I actually stopped every time. Super annoying & no way to report the issue through the app. Literally came here to post this just hoping they’ll see it & fix the issue.
Provider connection is broken

I get my Max subscription through att, and have for over a year. The app constantly signs me out, and then sends me through a loop each I try to sign in with my provider. Then I have to reach out to att to fix it. It is a terrible experience and completely destroys my trust in the service. Fix your login issues, please. No matter the method of subscribing, I shouldn’t face this much frustration just to watch a movie or tv show. Learn from your vast sea of competitors and make signing in the easiest part. Content doesn’t matter if I can’t get to it.
A step down from the terrible HBO Max app.

When using HBO Max, did you ever think that what the service really needed was an increase in price, decrease in premium content, and massive increase in low quality “unscripted” crap? If yes, then Max is for you! The new Max app somehow is significantly worse than the terrible HBO Max app. It has even worse controls on iOS and Apple TV. If only Warner would use the vastly superior, native iOS video controls... The apps do not feel at all like native apps on Apple devices. Everything looks and feels off.
Ruined

This used to be a really good streamer with great titles, but the platform needed a little more stability to bump it up to the best streamer. Now it’s ruined and overrun with Discovery channel brain rot, and there are rarely any new HBO Max titles added to the rotation. The demographics for HBO and Discovery channel do not often intersect which is why this is so unacceptable. It is truly the dumbest decision ever, and I’m only keeping my subscription for now because I’m grandfathered in.
Keeps logging out

Overall the app is fine. The shows are pretty good and there’s a good selection. I just hate the my app keep logging me out on every single one of my devices. Phones, tablets, TV’s… doesn’t matter what it is. I get Max free through my service with AT&T, so I have to use my AT&T info to log into the app. I’m not sure if that has something to do with why it makes me log in again every time I open the app. But I’m over it honestly. No one else I know seems to have this problem, but me!
Buggy

I installed the new MAX on my Sony Bravia TV. The app opens then crashes. I have to uninstall and reinstall to get it to open. Next day, same thing. I’m canceling HBO MAX. This is too much work! You shouldn’t of changed the name and app if you weren’t going to get it right or better. **update. Now that I’ve uninstalled MAX from my new SONY BRAVIA, the tv actually behaves better. It was making me turn it on twice. Now it just turns on. Terrible app for the Sony.
Good Selection

Even though they’ve made some changes, I’ve learned to accept change lol, I am starting to enjoy the shows that are showing up on MAX. The subscription price is still a little higher than I would normally pay, MAX does offer the entertainment I need for my style in movies I am a huge movie watcher. This is the streaming app for you if your a movie fanatic like me, has the 80’s, 90’s and the classics, I do respect that. Thank you MAX
